Siem Reap: The beautiful ruins of Angkor

My love for old buildings and history placed Angkor Wat high on my travel list for the longest time.  I finally made my way to Siem Reap in June 2017 and the temples did not disappoint. My favourite wat - Banteay Kdei The 4-days 3-nights trip to Siem Reap was intended to be relaxing and an opportunity to catch up with sleep after weeks of long working hours.  Overall, we found Siem Reap a sleepy, humid and dusty town with the Angkor complex as its main attraction.  Apart from the temples, there were plenty of night markets and shops selling souvenirs, knock-offs, clothes, artwork within the town centre. We stayed at Anusa Residence & Spa which is a small boutique hotel off the beaten path.  The rooms are spacious, clean and neat.  Breakfast consisted of fruits, pastries and a choice of main, which can be enjoyed by the small outdoor pool.  The hotel is not within walking distance to Pub Street but the hotel staff was always more than happy to hail a tuk tuk driver fo
